This footpath was severed in the "Great South Yorkshire Flood" of June 2007 when the foot-bridge across the river Dearne in Barnsley near Monk Bretton Priory collapsed into the river.
After years of nagging Barnsley MBC to do something and the threat of legal action, the money was found. A minor legal diversion was required to allowed BMBC to build the replacement bridge about 50 metres upstream of the original which we were happy to support.
